For what it's worth....

As I sit here with my Dad and my Grandmother in the small room at the Hospital, watching and listening to her breathing machine, and watching her morphine drip that has allowed her to sleep for hours now, I am reminded of the small things in life that we tend to take for granted.
Breathing, Hearing, Seeing, Smelling,
The touch of a loving hand, The warm kiss of a loved one just to know they care,
Sitting with my Dad just because I worry about him being alone even though he's the "tough" one
Seeing your Husband's face everyday, and when you don't for 6 months, forgetting the little wrinkles around his eyes when he smiles
Spending time with family that you don't see everyday, but when you do get together even in the midst of chaos and tragedy, you can still make each other laugh until you pee your pants (for you Brian and Brandy)
Spending the night in a hospital room with your Cousin Brian, and watching this 6ft tall man try to sleep in a small chair with a Sponge Bob blanket the only covers half of him and wondering which half he's going to designate as most important
Getting a call  from my Dad saying "Grandma has only got a few more hours to live so you need to get down here ASAP", then getting a call from Brian to "clarify" what my Dad has said, because we know that my Dad tends to over-exaggerate from time to time
Thinking my Grandmother has only got "today" to live, for the past 3 weeks
Being told that she won't make it through the night and when you sit down at her bedside crying she looks at you and says "Ya know, ya'll are all sitting here mourning when I could be here for another 5 weeks"   ( We love you Mam!!!)
SLEEP!!! Is soooo taken for granted!!!
Your own house, bed, blankets, pillow.. and a cat at each end of your body with the dog curled up in the middle with his head across your back.
But the 1 thing I think we all take for granted is that we think we will automatically see tomorrow, when each day is not promised....make the most of each moment, and have lots of fun laughing at yourself and each other, and don't look back when people wonder what your laughing at!
